About
For 20 years, Dr. Brice Marcet has dedicated his research to the genomic mechanisms involved in the regeneration of the epithelium of normal and pathological airways, within the "Genomic Physiology of Eukaryotes" team led by Dr. Barbry, today in the "Human Airway Biology" group led by Dr. Zaragosi, in the same team.
In 2003, he obtained his PhD on the pharmacology of the CFTR ion channel and P2Y nucleotide receptors from Aix-Marseille University. Between 2003 and 2006, he pursued postdoctoral studies at the Free University of Brussels, focusing on the role of extracellular nucleotides and P2Y receptors in the inflammatory response of normal and pathological airways.
In 2006, the researcher (a research fellow at the CNRS) joined the IPMC, then was awarded in 2007 for his work on cystic fibrosis with the research prize awarded by the French Cystic Fibrosis Society.
In 2012, he was awarded the CNRS and University of Nice-Sophia-Antipolis Bronze Medal for his discovery concerning the key role of microRNAs (small non-coding RNAs) of the miR-34/miR-449 family in the differentiation of multiciliated cells of the respiratory tract epithelium. In 2013, the researcher obtained his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from a jury chaired by Professor Michel Lazdunski at the University of Côte d'Azur.
Since 2016, he has been a research director at the CNRS, and supervises several doctoral theses.
His research is based on ex vivo 3D differentiation models of primary cultures of human and murine respiratory cells as well as on the technical and methodological developments from the UCA-Genomix platform led by Dr. Barbry.
