About
Dr Marie received her PhD in Neuroscience from University College London, UK in 2000. She then completed her postdoctoral training at Stanford University in Dr Malenka’s laboratory. In 2005, she became an independent group leader at the European Brain Research Institute (EBRI) in Rome, Italy. In 2010, she moved to France to join the CNRS at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (IPMC) in Sophia-Antipolis, creating her ATIP-Avenir team. Dr Marie currently continues to lead this research team (co-led by Dr Barik) and her research projects aim to understand the synaptic mechanisms leading to memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease. Her recent work has highlighted the role of different peptides derived from the amyloid precursor protein (APP) in the modulation of synaptic function. Since 2024, she has also become Deputy Director of the IPMC.
