The 2023 Émile Jungfleisch Grand Prize is awarded to Bruno ANTONNY, CNRS research director at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (CNRS/Université Côte d'Azur).
With his team, he showed that membrane curvature is cellular information, that the lipid PI(4)P is a currency for transporting cholesterol and that polyunsaturated lipids promote membrane deformation. These discoveries demonstrate the importance of membrane shape and composition for cell dynamics.
The Academy will pay tribute to him during the awards ceremony under the Dome of the Institut de France on November 21, 2023.
