About

We are equipped with 12 individual metabolic phenotyping cages operating in parallel, allowing us to measure the energy expenditure of the animals, their locomotor activity, as well as their food and water consumption.
Energy expenditure is assessed by indirect calorimetry: it is deduced from O₂ consumption2 and CO2 production2 Continuous recordings are made in hermetically sealed cages. A feeder and a water bottle, each connected to a precision scale, provide rigorous measurement of the mice's food and water intake. Another scale, connected to a suspended plexiglass tunnel easily accessible to the animals, allows for regular weight measurements. Their locomotor and vertical activity is recorded using a frame equipped with infrared beams. All cages are housed in a climate-controlled chamber, ensuring precise control of experimental conditions and optimal measurement quality.
